Youth Groups
Whether you fancy yourself as the next Russell Brand, Britney Spears or Stephen Spielberg macrobert youth groups offer you a fantastic chance to get involved in dance, drama and filmmaking in a professional theatre environment. Led by our resident professionals our youth groups are always popular and a great way to learn new skills, build confidence and make new friends, all in macrobert’s unique family friendly environment. Next term starts week beginning 16 August 2010.
Monday
Streetdance 1
Come and join our crew, you'll learn new routines and practice tricks and freezes to wow your friends - all under the expert quidance of our resident dance artist Yolanda.
Age: Primary 2 - Primary 6
Time: 4.30 - 5.30pm

Streetdance 2
Our older crew get to try out more complicated routines, tricks and freezes - all with an urban flava'.
Age: Primary 7 - S1
Time: 5.45 - 6.45pm

Tuesday
macrobert Youth Theatre 1 (MYT1)
Our youngest drama group, MYT1 is all about learning to be creative and use your imagination to create new characters and scenes. Drama games and creative play combine in these brilliant confidence boosting introductory workshops.
Time: 4.30 – 5.30pm
Age: Primary2 – Primary 3
Cost: £50 for 10 week term
macrobert youth theatre 4a (MYT4a)
Following an overwhelming response to our drama groups for 13 – 16 year olds we have created a brand new Tuesday night drama group for S2 – S4. Working with a guest drama artist you will explore text and character, as well as creating your own unique performance material in these drama workshop sessions.
Time: 5.45 – 7.15pm
Age: S2 – S4

macrobert Young Company
Our resident performance company for S5+ has been running now for over 3 years and is going form strength to strength. This group work towards performances as pasrt of macrobert's FebFest youth theatre festival and have opportunities to work with visiting companies and take part in youth theatre exchange programmes.
Time: 7.30 - 9.30pm

Thursday
macrobert Youth Theatre@Dunblane (MYT@Dunblane)
Our Dunblane based drama group get to have all the fantastic fun and creativity as all our other groups, but in the gorgeous Victoria Halls. Creative play, improvisation, character and text based workall combine in this energetic session.
Time: 5.00 - 6.30pm
Age: Primary 6 - S1
Cost: £60 per 10 week term
macrobert young film crew (YFC)
Fancy a career in the film industry? Or just want to learn how to make your own short films for YouTube? Our fun and relaxed film crew sessions are great for beginners right through to more experienced film makers. Our team of film tutors will guide you through the filmmaking process and help you create and upload films onto a dedicated website.
Time: Thursdays 6pm – 8pm
Age: S1 – S6

Friday
macrobert youth dance company
This class offers a great chance to explore contemporary dance theatre and give you a chance to choreograph your own material. Last year saw MYDC take to the stage at the Edinburgh Fringe whilst this year they created an original dance film and are working with groups from Dundee and Aberdeen on a dance exchange project. MYDC will showcase this new piece at Febfest 2010.

Saturday
macrobert youth theatre 2 (MYT2)
MYT2 is all about learning to use your imagination to create new characters and scenes. Drama games and improvisation combine in these brilliant workshops which aim to boost confidence and unlock creative imagination.
Time: 9.45am – 11.00am
Age: Primary 4 – Primary 5
Cost: £50 for 10 week term
macrobert youth theatre 3 (MYT3)
Improvisation and character work combine as participants learn more about the art of stagecraft and create new text and performance material. MYT3 participants will be invited to perform in macrobert’s studio theatre during our annual youth theatre festival, Febfest.
Time: 11.30am – 1.00pm
Age: Primary 6 – Primary 7
Cost: £60 for 10 week term
macrobert youth theatre 4b (MYT4b)
In these workshops participants will explore new ways of creating performance work, exploring existing theatrical texts to help improve performance skills, as well as using performance visits as a stimulus for creative response when developing new work. MYT4b will also perform at macrobert’s annual festival of youth theatre, Febfest.
Time: 1.30pm – 3.00pm
Age: S1 – S2
Cost: £60 for 10 week term
macrobert youth theatre 5 (MYT5)
In this senior workshop group participants will learn new techniques to improve their performance skills and develop stage confidence. Intensive character development and text work will ensure our MYT5 group are a performance force to be reckoned with. MYT5 will get to showcase these skills when they perform as part of Febfest, macrobert’s annual festival of youth theatre.
Time: 3.30 – 5.00pm
Age: S3 – S4
