Entrance: Ground floor entrance via Campus Central Building

Making Your Way Around Our Venue

There are five parking bays for blue badge holders adjacent to Macrobert and another five just across the road. Our blue badge parking and drop off area is most easily accessed via the East Link Road.

Blue Badge holders park free (you must register your vehicle on the system in advance by calling the car parking office on 01786 466065).

Concession-priced tickets are available for people with additional access requirements and assisting companions are usually admitted free. 

Our 'Pay What You Choose' priced events leave it up to the customer and we do not ask for a reason why you chose to pay at the price you did.

Please let us know when you book if you require a wheelchair space or if you have any additional access requirements. We have allocated wheelchair spaces for events in the Mainhouse, Filmhouse and Playhouse available to book online. Additional spaces can be booked in person or by phone: 01786 466 666.

Not all disabilities are visible. Some are not immediately obvious, such as autism, chronic pain, dementia, anxiety, visual or hearing impairment. Living with a hidden disability can make daily life more demanding for many people, but it can be difficult for others to recognise, acknowledge or understand the challenges those people face. 

If you live with a hidden disability, wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard discreetly indicates to people around you that you may need additional support, help or a little more time.

Audio Described Live Shows & Film Screenings
Certain live shows and most film screenings will be clearly marked as audio described in our live and cinema guides. Phonic Ear stereo headsets are available from the Box Office to allow customers to hear soundtrack and audio description of on-screen/on-stage action. These headsets can be used in any seat in the Filmhouse and for our live shows. Box Office staff will help you select the best seat available.

Relaxed Events
These events are open to everyone but are designed to welcome people who benefit from a more relaxed environment - those with an Autistic Spectrum condition, sensory and communication disorders and people living with dementia. You can expect:
- A relaxed attitude to noise and movement
- Friendly staff on hand to make your visit easy and enjoyable
- The auditorium lights to be kept on low and volume turned down
- No adverts or trailers are shown at the start of film screenings

In captioned performances, the words appear on a screen at the same time as they are sung or spoken. Captions also include descriptions of sound effects and offstage noises.

British Sign Language Interpreted Performances

We have BSL Interpreted performances for selected shows throughout the season. When booking, Box Office staff can help find the best available seats for you to see the professional interpreter. The interpreter will not distract from the view of the show. 

Accessible Events & Screenings

We do our best to make Macrobert Arts Centre a comfortable place to be and appreciate that visiting a new place can be a challenging experience for some people. 

We understand that audience members can sometimes benefit from the sensory experience of sound and lighting effects, together with a chance to handle both props and costumes beforehand (if offered as part of the show). 

If you have booked tickets to one of our events and one of your party would benefit from a pre-event tour or touch tour, then please let us know or call 01786 466 666. 

Familiarisation visits / Touch tours

We welcome children and families and are fully accessible for prams and pushchairs. There’s a pram parking bay opposite the bar and booster cushions are available on request for the Filmhouse. There are baby changing facilities in both the men’s and women’s toilets and a changing places toilet in the Arthouse. Mothers are welcome to breastfeed anywhere at Macrobert Arts Centre.

Babes in Arms: a limited number of free tickets for children aged 12 months and under (sharing a seat with their carer) are available for family-friendly events. These must be booked in advance.

Baby Friendly Screenings: We have dedicated Baby Friendly Screenings every month. These screenings are open to everyone, but are designed to welcome parents / guardians and their baby (aged 12 months and under*). You can expect:
 - A relaxed attitude to noise and movement
 - Mats in front of the screen for parents/guardians and babies to relax on
 - Friendly staff on hand to make your visit easy & enjoyable
 - The lights to be on low and volume turned down

 *Children over 12 months are more than welcome but they will need a paid for ticket. Find out more in our cinema listings. 

Please note: Due to film licensing - we are unable to screen anything above 12A certification for our Baby Friendly Screening programme.
